Fairview Gets a Healthy Dose of Recognition

Fairview’s employee wellness programs are pretty fit. They were recently recognized locally and nationally with three honors.

“This recognition really reaffirms our efforts to support our employees with programs that help improve their health and well-being and the health of our environment,” says Brenna Vuong, Fairview’s Employee Wellness Program manager.

 

Hennepin County Wellness by Design (Gold level + Green)

On June 25, 2015, Fairview received a Wellness by Design Worksite Award, presented to Hennepin County worksites whose wellness initiatives demonstrate accomplishments in:

  • management supportAward 1
  • wellness infrastructure
  • assessment and evaluation
  • supportive environments
  • communication and engagement
  • programs and interventions
  • focus on environmental sustainability (new this year)

This was the second time Fairview applied for the biennial award and first time achieving Gold-level status with “Green” recognition for environmental sustainability.

 

CEO Roundtable on Cancer, Gold Standard

Award 2Fairview earned CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ accreditation by meeting the following requirements in corporate culture and health benefits:

  • establish policies and programs to reduce cancer risk by prohibiting tobacco use and supporting tobacco-cessation efforts
  • promote physical activity, healthy nutrition and weight management
  • provide health insurance options that include detecting cancer at its earliest stages, access to quality care, and participation in clinical trials
  • promote employee awareness of these initiatives
  • support the needs of cancer survivors in the workplace

Fairview’s many programs that encourage physical fitness, nutrition and a healthy culture helped earn them the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Workplace honor. These include:

  • wellness and physical activity campaigns, such as Active for Life
  • onsite well-being programs like yoga and seated massage, as well as reimbursement for healthy living programs
  • community-supported agriculture programs, farmers markets and healthy food options in our cafeterias
  • use of wellness committees and ambassadors to promote onsite wellness and engage employees
